Hard Blue customer supplied items: gas blocks, bolts, bolt carriers, etc. Can I supply my own bolt?
A.) We no longer offer this service. Keeping up with customer supplied items for Hard Blue became an inventory tracking nightmare. Concerning bolts and bolt carriers, we have bolts and bolt carriers with 11,000+ rounds through them, and have not worn them out. Giving them Hard Blue would give little to no return on the investment. The bolts and bolt carriers we use are manufactured by the prime contractor supplying the M16 rifle series. We do not accept customer bolts for head spacing to our barrels. Bolts and bolt carriers are easy to remove, clean and inspect, and relatively inexpensive to replace when needed. Had there been an issue with the current finish on bolts and bolt carriers, the government would have addressed and corrected this decades ago: no need to fix a problem that does not exist. Hard Blue is about making high quality barrels last longer than the same untreated barrel.
