Well, Beowulf is a rather simple read, but the basic plot (if you’re reading the abridged version, which i assume most schools do) is that Grendel is terrorizing Herot, the mead hall owned by Hrothgar, the king in Denmark. Grendel is killing Hrothgar’s men, and Beowulf, cousin of a Swedish king, hears about it so he gathers 14 men to come with him to kill Grendel. He is received by Hrothgar, requests that Hrothgar’s men stay out of it, and claims that he will kill Grendel with no weapons. So, he goes through, kills Grendel by ripping off his arm, and hangs the arm from the rafters of herot. But, Grendels mother is angry that he killed her son, so she starts killing people, and Beowulf has to kill her, as well. After he kills her, he goes home to Sweden, and later becomes king of the Geats. 50 years later, Beowulf’s people are being terrorized by a dragon who is upset because someone stole his treasure, so he takes his ment to go kill him, but his men get scared and run away, except for
