How agriculture pests can be controlled in an enviromentally sound manner.?
Integrated Pest Management uses a variety of methods, such as plants that repel pests or attract beneficial insects and nematodes which eat pests and pathogens, other plants that lure the pests away from crops, and adding composted organic matter to boost the numbers of beneficial bacteria and fungi and reduce the levels of weeds and pathogens in the soil. Also, anything which increases the strength and health of the crops (like compost) will help them fight off attacks from pests and pathogens. Another way to discourage pests and pathogens is to rotate crops from season to season, planting them in different places each season so that the pests of a certain crop don’t build up in the area where they’re planted, and to plant crops in smaller plots, interspersed with other crops, instead of one big field of a single crop that makes it easy for the pests to find it in the first place. These methods and other forms of IPM require a less industrial, monocultural approach to planting and har
