How are new students placed in science courses?
As a general rule, freshmen take Biology and sophomores take Chemistry. However, a student’s quantitative results on the SSAT and/or CA Mathematics Department placement test may make other courses more appropriate. If this is the case, the Science Department will initiate a conversation with the family prior to the start of school.
