• The IRS recognizes that orthodontia treatment is different from any other type of healthcare expense. Therefore, reimbursement of orthodontia expenses can be handled in these ways: • Coupon Payment Option – You can submit an itemized statement of your orthodontia expenses as the service is provided. Submit this documentation with a completed claim form for reimbursement. • Monthly Payment Option – You can obtain a contract agreement from the orthodontist showing the patient name, the date the service begins and the length of service, charges for the initial banding work and the dollar amount charged each month. Submit this with your first claim form and we can automatically reimburse you each month, according to the contract. This eliminates the need for you to send a claim form in each month. You do need to send a new claim form with your contract agreement at the beginning of the next plan year if you wish to continue.
