Depends on the species. Monkeys can cost up to $30,000. Apes cost well over $75,000. You will need 2. It is cruel to purchase just one. You will have an emotionally and mentally disturbed monkey if you just purchase one. Then consider the vet care. Some monkeys live up to 45 years. Most states require AT LEAST 1 annual vet visit. They cost around $1,000. That’s $45,000 during the course of 1 monkeys life. Now double that for 2 monkeys. Also, caging, food, enrichment items, toys, vitamins, etc. Not cheap animals. Here is a bit of information for you that I have personally wrote. I ask that you PLEASE read it. I have nothing against people owning monkeys. I own 2 Capuchins. But, many people do not do the needed research before they purchase one. Many monkeys suffer and even die because of their owners lack of education! 98% of wild exotics (monkeys, large felines, etc.) die within the first 2 years!
