How can I make Franklin grandfather chime clock chime again if overwound?

I have a grandfather clock that I received two years ago as a Christmas present. I seem to have overwound the chime, which will not make a sound now. The time part is just fine. I’m not sure it’s overwound but it is very tight. I could still turn the key with brute force so it’s not completely locked. There is no natural “stopping point” when you wind either the time or the chime. The brand name is Franklin. Thank you very much for any help you can offer.
