How can i prevent getting the flu?
All you can do is lower your risks by investing in keeping your body at full strength. (Stay up on your vitamins – especially vitamin C, your cardiovascular health, your mental health – optimistic vs. depressed or anxious, and keep up good personal hygiene habits.) Oh – And get your annual flu shot. It may not be the right strain one time but it may be the right one all the others. It’s still safer. Once you get the flu – serve your time in bed to minimize any complications and keep it to yourself. You’ll get over it faster – even though you’re likely to keep it atleast 3-5 days and lessen the overall spread of the flu. Addition: I see someone thinks flu shots are dumb. I’ll take my chances. I’ve had the flu once. And I work in a very hostile environment for getting germs – a doctor’s office with direct contact with patients.
Washing hands is great note that the ‘flu’ is most active at 40 degrees and 40 percent humidity and that fact was found in a university study the warmer it gets and the higher humidity – both kill the flu quicker another thing good this time of year are cranberries you can \freeze extra bags in your freezer without killing the good enzymes just take 1/3 a bag (about a cup) juice with 2 apples ( I remove the seeds) the stem is OK – has life in it and swish in your mouth before drinking this juice does not kill the flu – BUT – just like a father holding his child up to put the ball thru a basketball goal – cranberry juice holds your immune system up to throw the flu out relief in 20 minutes!
The only way you can prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated. Unfortunately, it seems as though you may have a strain of the flu already. If your fever gets really high, get to the doctor immediately, because there is an anti-viral medication called Tamiflu that kills the virus. In the mean-time, get plenty of rest, and drink plenty of liquids so that you do not get dehydrated.
