How can I SAFELY rid my home of rats?
Clean can help, as your first reponder pointed out, but it’s not necessarily so…after all, they will feed on things other than food….no, the best thing is to get some D-con (or other rat-poison in a solid pellet form), some sandwich bags, and some vanilla extract. Put a little rat poison in several sandwich bags, and then pour a little vanilla extract (not much, enough to wet the pellets) into each bag. Tie the bags off so that the vanilla extract does not leak out, and place them at several places all over the home where rats/mice might hide. Do this about every three days, and eventually you’ll be rat free. Hopefully you don’t have any dogs or cats around that might get into the rat poison…if you do, you must make sure that they cannot get to the pellets as it might kill them if they eat enough of it.
