IDED’s Division of Community Development administers federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. A special appropriation for disaster assistance providing supplemental funding to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s CDBG program has begun moving through the U.S. Congress. Once enacted and released to IDED to administer, funds to assist communities with clean-up, remediation, public facilities and possibly small businesses in hard-hit communities would become available. However, it is premature to predict where or what type of businesses or which communities could receive financial support. IDED staff are currently working on allocating some of the regular CDBG monies to a CDBG disaster fund and asking for certain regulations to be waived.
