How can parents make sure their sons or daughters have the best chances for rewarding careers with horses?

Parents also need to be realistic. Just because their children love horses doesn’t mean they’ll be successful in an equine science college program. They have to allow their children to find the best fit for themselves. On the other hand, if and when students choose equine science as a major, parents need to encourage them to be successful and help them see what opportunities are available. We do have some parents who say, “I don’t understand why you’re messing around with horses. You should be in the college of business.” If the students really want to complete a program and are following a dream, they’ll do well. For the most part, we see parents who’ve helped their students gain experience and who’ve been eager to provide the opportunities their sons and daughters needed to be successful through high school. They drove to club meetings, shows and competitions. What career advice did you offer your own kids? I told my kids I didn’t care what they did, but I expected them to live up to
