How can people monitor or get involved in the reform process?

Project Reform, the name given to the comprehensive overhaul of TYC, is an open process where everyone is not only invited, but encouraged to participate. There are numerous committees currently tackling problems and designing improvements in policies, procedures, and tangible aspects of the agency. For those who want to monitor changes, the agency has two new sections on its homepage entitled: Reforming TYC and In the Works. Both contain valuable information; particularly links to places like the Texas Register, where the public is invited to comment on proposed rule changes; and the Texas Building and Procurement Commission, where all agency RFPs (Requests for Proposals – bids for major purchases and contracts) are posted. Those who wish to participate on committees and in reform efforts should contact Dr. Tracy Levins, who is coordinating schedules for the various groups. She can be reached at (512) 424-6033 or tracy.levins@tyc.state.tx.us.
