How can RSV be prevented?
RSV can be prevented using many of the same infection-prevention techniques you would use to avoid passing on a cold or the flu: wash your hands frequently with warm soapy water, particularly before touching your baby, and require others to do the same; don’t kiss your baby when you’re sick with a cold or fever; as much as possible, limit your baby’s exposure to children and adults who are sick; and be careful that countertops and toys are cleaned thoroughly. Exposure to secondhand smoke can also increase your baby’s risk of contracting RSV.
