How can we be sure the new structure won be ripped apart by ice?
From everything we have seen so far, we are confident that the new structure will be at least as strong as the one it will replace, which has lasted for a century. But catastrophic damage is always a risk. The contractor will at most warrant, for a limited period of time, that the structure will be properly built using sound materials. This would not protect us against a loss from a catastrophic natural cause. Through the ASLC’s insurance brokers, we have explored what insurance coverage is available. Unfortunately, coverage against loss from ice damage is not generally available. If we had to drop something from the proposal to save money, what would it be? The core proposal for the reconstruction of the wharf is about as limited as it can be. There are no elements of the project that are merely cosmetic. Are there any environmental issues?
