Hormones control when ovulation occurs. There are a variety of things that affect hormones. Diet, illness, lack of sleep, stress, and exercise can all factor in when your body releases an egg for ovulation so you can not say without fail that ovulation will always occur on day 14 of a 28 day cycle. In addition, many people do not realize that sperm can live inside a woman’s body for as long as 7 days.
