How come some women conceive on non fertile days?
Hormones control when ovulation occurs. There are a variety of things that affect hormones. Diet, illness, lack of sleep, stress, and exercise can all factor in when your body releases an egg for ovulation so you can not say without fail that ovulation will always occur on day 14 of a 28 day cycle. In addition, many people do not realize that sperm can live inside a woman’s body for as long as 7 days. So, if your sister thinks she got pregnant on the ninth day of her cycle because that is the day she had sex, it is very possible that she could of had sex on the ninth day yet conception didn’t occur until several days later on day 13 or 14 when ovulation was expected. While it is true that some women do have 28 day cycles and ovulate on day 14, this is just an average. Many more women do not have exact cycles thus determining the exact ovulation date is difficult.
