How come the animation changed/how come its suddenly CGI?

It’s another studio/different animation team, which means they couldn’t reuse the /Zero models and had to start over…sometimes with good results, sometimes not. The Zoids have always been cel-shaded CGI, though. Here’s what the Liger in /Zero looks like without its shading, rather obviously CGI: For the curious, that’s an error in episode 2, and it’s visible for all of a frame when the Liger’s charging Naomi—I noticed it cutting the scene to make an AMV, of all things. I’ll give Fuzors points for improving a bit over the course of the series (compare the original episode 2 with its reworked counterpart), though I’ll agree it’s still pretty cheesy. You want pretty cel-shaded mecha battles, go watch some recent Macross or something ;p.
