How did Humanism affect the Renaissance and eventually lead to the Reformation?
The philosophy of Humanism went against the dogma of the Catholic Church in that it held mankind in general in higher esteem rather than a sinful and guilty creature. Overall, Humanism brought in a new era of thought and thus weakened the grip of Catholicism on Europe, while promoting scholarship and inquiry into the world instead of settling for religious superstitions.
