How did MI-Connection originate?
The new telecommunications system has its origin in a local partnership – the Mecklenburg-Iredell Consortium – formed in 1998 between Mecklenburg County and the towns of Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Mooresville and Troutman. The purpose of the consortium was to interrupt the pattern of repeated buying and selling of the cable franchise that had led to inadequate system upgrades, inferior technical maintenance and poor customer service.
