How did the french revolution affect slavery in haiti?

0

In the beginning of the French revolution, (1789) French deputies of the National assembly wrote the Declaration of the Human Rights. This was introduced not only to the France itself but to the islands such as Haiti. In 1792 there was a reluctant acceptance by slave owners. About 1802, when napoleon wanted to reintroduce slavery in the islands, there was an Haitian revolution, which consisted of a revolt of ex-slaves who wanted to remain free, and also a movement inspired by the ideas of the revolution. Though slavery is by law abolished, the reality is that many Haitians (children in particular) remain in bondage. This is brought about by extreme poverty where many are forced to survive off eating literal dirt cakes. Children are either stolen from the streets and sold into sexual and/or domestic slavery to foreign predators or taken from their families with the offer (but not fulfillment) of a better life. see www.freethekids.
