How did the Salem Witch Trials affect Puritan society?
I took a class on this in college. I think in my opinion if you look at the Puritan lifestyle this was a close knit community. Ignorance led to the trials and tore the community apart. Friends and family turned on one another. Think about the catholic religion did to a million cats and so called heritics and the times way before Henry the eighth. This witch trial was history repeating itself, cruelty and hatred for people whom were misunderstood. Fear itself is contagious and this misconception tore apart the Puritains. Was there something deeper than just burning witches one may wonder. Was this a religious organization trying to prove a point. Why flee to America if your just going to murder your loved ones.People being burned alive, how peculiar this is what was done in Europe for centuries.
