Utter confusion took over and thousands upon thousands of South Vietnamese scrambled to the US military base an attempted to escape Vietnam. Thousands tried to climb over the wall into the base in hopes that they would be evacuated, and US military was forced to beat people down off the wall with their guns and at one point even tossed a grenade into the crowd of civilians below.
