how do grants work?
They have stipulations on your hours. If you drop below certain hours- I think they can make you pay back the grant money. Because it’s free money to you. I don’t think they will track the money. I got loans and grants. I didn’t get much because they didn’t think I was poor enough (ha!). But the small amount I got from grants was used first to pay for my tuition and then whatever they needed from my student loans paid for the rest. I had wanted to drop a class and I called the office. They said if I did, then I would have to pay back the grant money (which I didn’t have). I don’t know about grants, but I know with loans the money can be used for anyting school related (which should be the case because it’s a loan, not free money from other peopels pockets like a grant). If the college really wanted to track the money, I am sure they could find ways and investigate it. But I doubt they will.
Each financial aid document received by Hobe Sound Bible College is reviewed and a follow-up letter is sent to you if any additional information is needed. Students who have their application materials completed early will receive priority processing for financial aid assistance. To be eligible to apply for most financial assistance programs, a student must: • Apply for admission to Hobe Sound Bible College. • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. • Be making satisfactory progress. • Be registered with the Selective Service if required to register. • Not be in default on a loan or owe a repayment on a previous financial assistance award received at any institution. NOTE: Most financial assistance programs are not automatically renewable. You must apply annually. Financial assistance packets for the fall are available after January 1.
