How do I amend soil with compost?

Rake the area even.Plant your vegetable garden or landscaping directly after amending the soil, if it is spring time. If you amend the soil in the fall or winter, with the anticipation of planting the next spring, cover the newly amended soil with 2 inches of mulch for protection.
