How do I apply for an overseas visit to another Higher Education Institute?
All ESRC funded research award holders are eligible to apply for paid extensions of up to three months to their PhD studentship in order to visit overseas universities. Students in the Masters year of a 1+3 award are not eligible to apply. Fees only students will be entitled to just additional time. For full-time research students this allowance will provide financial support and time for students to: • undertake additional specialist research training; • develop language skills; • establish research links that will be beneficial to their current or future academic career, and • attend and participate in seminars where directly relevant to their research. Students can apply for up to three separate trips as part of their overseas university visit but the total period spent overseas during the period of the studentship must not exceed three months in total.
