Run this reg file, and only install WMP7.1 or later. WMP7.0 will ignore the flag that this registry file sets. Note that this will permanently block WMP’s installation of the Adaptec CD-Burning Plug-in, but if you’re having problems with it, this is probably the right thing to do.
