Open the UnitSlide the motion detector off of its wall mount. If it does not slide easily, try sliding it the other way. Some ADT motion detectors have a small button on the top of the unit. Push the button to release the cover and pull off the front of the motion detector. If there is no button, the faceplate should still pop off easily.Remove the BatteriesUse your fingertip or a strong fingernail to pop out the old batteries. These are located at the bottom front of the unit. Some ADT motion detectors have two batteries; some have three. Do not strike the unit to dislodge the batteries, as this may cause damage to the internal sensors.Replace the BatteriesAlways use the same type of battery that was originally placed in the motion detector. Line up the plus (+) end of the battery with the plus (+) inside the battery area of the unit. Push each new battery into place until it is firmly seated inside the unit. Replace the cover, pressing it onto the unit securely, then slide the motion
