If your car headlights are giving you problems, there are several potential issues that you should check. Troubleshooting car headlights is, thankfully, a simple process for the amateur car mechanic. Once you’ve figured out what’s wrong with your headlights, you may find that you need to replace some of the headlight components. Replacement parts are generally available from most auto parts stores. Open the fuse panel cover on your vehicle. Fuse panel covers are normally located underneath the steering column. Pull the fuse for the headlights using the fuse pullers in the fuse panel. Use the fuse diagram on the underside of the fuse panel cover if you are having trouble locating the fuse for the headlights. Check the metal strip in the fuse. If the strip is broken or burned, replace the fuse with a new fuse of the same amperage. Turn on the headlights. If the lights do not illuminate, open the hood and check the wiring for the headlights. Check for any frayed, pinched, cut or otherwise
