How do I find a Reference Sequence (RefSeq) accession number for my gene of interest?

If you don’t have a RefSeq accession number for your gene of interest, the most direct way to obtain one would be to search NCBI Gene Entrez database at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene. This search engine is versatile and allows queries using partial names, chromosome location, associated accession number, and HUGO gene name. Once you have located the Entrez Gene record for your gene of interest, scroll down to locate the related RefSeq numbers (NM_#). Only one NM# will be required for the RefSplice query field as all related NM numbers pertaining to your gene will be automatically displayed in the exon-map alignment.
