How do i go about planting potatoes for the summer?

0

March and April are the best months for planting potatoes. In your 10 x 10ft plot, using a string line to guide you, dig out furrows (small trenches) about 8″ deep, and about 1ft apart moving the earth to both sides as you go. If you have some farm manure then line the furrows with this, about 4″ then drop your seed in, at 1ft distances. When you dug the furrows you formed ridges, so now you will cover the seed splitting those ridges throwing half to the left and half to the right, so that you are now forming ridges 8″ high over the seed potatoes, and don’t worry, they will all come through. I know, I’ve been there, and done it. For your first season, do not worry about the type, so long as they are main crop. I’m Irish too. Good luck to you sir.
