How do I kill ants and nests completely?
simple way but you should only use it if they are a real pest to you, otherwise its quite cruel lol pour bleach (if there are LOTS of ants you could mix in some ant killer stuff you can buy) around the nest and down the middle then get a hose and completly drown the whole thing, so that the ground is really soggy because that way you know its not just surface runoff, the water has gotten the whole way down. we have never had the problem of them coming up again somewhere else, but sometimes some survive the first time. by the second time you do it they should be gone.
old wifes tales work occasionally… try my remedy; buy 500g of garlic powder, mix about 100g (4oz) (available at any indian shop) and mix it with a gallon of hot water, (use a watering can) and soak the areas where you see ants. they hate garlic… my mum had a crazy paved patio and the ant lived under it… we soaked teh area twice over the last 5 years, and no ants…. the smell fades very quickly, but the effects last for ages, and garlic wont kill anything else in your garden…
Boiling hot water will only kill a few of the ant´s , as the water never reaches far enough in to kill the egg-laying Queen. You can put black pepper in and around the tunnels , the ant´s will then carry this in and the egg-laying Queen will then move them out. But this will not kill them , The only way to rid them is with chemical,this is fine but if you have children and pets , then the garden is out of bounds for sometime. You need to dust the soil with HCH , insecticide or destroy nests by pouring a solution of HCH or trichorphon.
