How do I know which string instrument to purchase (BEGINNER)?
DON’T BUY ONLINE FROM EBAY OR CRAIGSLIST. You need to be able to look at the instrument, hold it to make sure its the right size and feels comfortable to hold and play, check it over for any signs of damage (cracks, loose seams, etc), and play it (or listen to someone else play it) to make sure you like the way it sounds. In order to do all that, you need to go to a real violin shop, where you can look at and compare a number of instruments in your price range and get advice from an experienced sales person who can make sure you get the right type, size and kind of instrument you want at a price that you can afford.
