I think your best option would be to use Automator. I don’t think iTunes would have to load in order to get Automator to create a playlist and then open it. Instructions 1. Right click on the folder > More > Automator > ‘Create Workflow…’ 2. In the far right panel select ‘Music’ and in the panel directly to the right drag ‘New iTunes Playlist’ into the large right frame (workflow area) 3. Choose the name of your playlist 4. To top it off you can select ‘Play iTunes Playlist’ where you selected ‘New iTunes Playlist’ before and drag it over. This should create the playlist and start playing it when the run button is clicked. If you would like to save this workflow for further use, just do File > Save As Plug-in… and then you will find it at “right click” > more > Automator > “the name you entered” You can play around with automator some more if this is not exactly what you want to do (for instance you may not want it to autoplay and instead reveal the location of the playlist on your
