How do I manage multiple headends or “Display Machines” from 1 “Editing Machine”?
A. Prior to v4.2 install PCMS in multiple folders on the “Editing Machine”, once for each system. Create a shortcut to PCMS.exe for each system with a descriptive name such as “PCMS Lakewood”, “PCMS Carson” , etc. All data is stored in the PCMS installation folder so you have a complete copy of all program files and data in each folder. Microsoft’s new operating system Windows Vista enforces programming conventions that no data can be written to the installation folder. PCMS v4.2 has changed to meet those requirements. (PCMS v4.2 can be installed on any OS Win98SE or better.) All data is now stored in the “current users” application data folder. The program is installed only once but each Window’s user has a separate data path.
