How do I pin for accuracy to ensure I don cut off points and that I achieve smooth seams on curved pieces?

Pin the fabric together by placing the tip of the pin exactly on the ¼” seam, or exactly on the tip of a point, and pinning upwards so the tip of the pin faces the raw edge of the fabric. This acts as if the seam is sewn and allows the work to be opened from the right side to ensure a curve is smooth and has no pleats, gathers or bulges or a point hasn’t been cut off. This also allows seams to be ‘fudged’ if a point is slightly within the ¼” seam allowance rather than on it. If this is the case, place the tip of the pin into the point on the offending piece, but on the ¼” on the other piece of fabric. Pin up as before. Check if this has solved the problem and if so stitch.
