How do I recognise a puppy farmer?
I have learned over the years that puppy farming to one breeder means something else to someone else. But generally they are dogs bred in huge numbers, kept in filthy conditions, they are not kennel club registered, and they are not hip scored, they do not come from show dogs, they are sent out from their mothers at 5 weeks of age, they are not wormed, the owners are not given after care of there puppy. They may have at least 5 to 10 different breeds, with puppies running about all the year. They do not specialise in any one group of dogs, but anything that is popular such as Westies, King Charles spaniels, Labradors, Cocker spaniels and the latest craze of cross breed dogs, especially poodle cross’s. They can be kept in crates upon crates upon crates, limiting spaces, and more like battery hens than dogs.
