Auto CarpetPut on rubber gloves and a dust mask. Remove floor mats from the auto’s interior. Mix a solution of 1/4 cup nonchlorine bleach with 1 gallon of water. Dip a soft-bristle brush into the bleach mixture, and scrub the carpet inside the car. Mold and mildew hide under wet car mats, giving off a musty smell. Removing mold and mildew from carpets helps to eliminate the odor. Rinse the bleach solution from the carpet with clean water and the brush. Run a wet/dry vac over the carpet to remove all liquid. Sprinkle baking soda lightly over the carpet after it has dried completely.Floor MatsWash both sides of the floor mats with the bleach solution. Rinse dry with clean water from a bucket or garden hose. Place the mats in the sun to dry. Turn mats over so the underside dries also.
