How do I reset a Gateway BIOS password?
Open the ComputerTurn off the PC. Unplug all cords in the back. Remove the three screws in the back, on the right side of the Gateway tower. Slide the panel off and set it aside. Lay the computer flat with the inside facing upward.Locate the CMOS BatteryFind the CMOS battery. This is round, typically silver, and similar to a large watch battery. It can be anywhere on the motherboard such as near the device slots or the processor.Remove the CMOS BatteryDetach the CMOS battery from the metal holder. Some Gateway CMOS battery holders have tabs on both sides, while with others you can lift the battery out. Press down on the tabs and the battery will pop out. Wait two minutes, then push the battery back in. This will change the CMOS settings back to default and reset the Gateway BIOS password. Replace the panel and cords. Turn on the PC and enter the BIOS menu by pressing F2 repeatedly to create a new password. To bypass creating a BIOS password, boot to Windows normally.
