I don’t think you need to do anything in particular about this. If this girl isn’t much of a friend then it doesn’t really matter what her mom thinks. If you DO want to reply to her mom then I would suggest something along the lines of: Hey (insert name), I am sorry that the email, to which you refer, found it’s way to you and that my language offended you. The email was a private conversation between friends, many of whom used profanity including your daughter. The aim was not to offend anyone, and we are all capable of knowing when profanity might be inappropriate. However, it is accepted in our peer group and therefore we weren’t hurting anyone. I do not hold with the idea that profanity is a sign of low intelligence or poor manners. Curse words are part of the English language and are part of modern society, like it or not.
