How do i train my whippet?
I’m sorry, but I really can’t resist smiling as I read this question……. having had Bassets for years (and years) exclusively, I decided last year, with the end of my line in sight, to switch to something lighter, and taller for the sake of my back. Enter Whippet girl at 9 weeks. I had experience, some, with my neighbours’ so I sort-of knew what I was in for. And stubborn I knew about, but stubborn and fast is quite another matter! Basically you do all the things you’d do with any puppy. Put him outside when he first wakes up, after every meal, after he’s been playing for a while – basically every hour to begin with because he’s only young, and on 4 meals a day so what goes in, has to come out. Be consistent. I was told they are not easy to train, but housebreaking hasn’t been the problem with my girl. Most other things have – but they are gentle sensitive creatures, so you have to temper your frustrations or you will send him into a shell it will be difficult to get him out of easi
