How do I Troubleshoot a Bathroom Faucet Installation That Will Not Shut Off?
There are discomforting times when, after completing the installation of a bathroom faucet and restoring the water pressure, it’s discovered the faucet will not stop the flow of water when turned off. Troubleshooting a bathroom faucet which continues to run after installation is a job the do-it-yourself homeowner is more than capable of. The cause of the problem will reveal itself with an internal inspection of the faucet which requires only 20 minutes and a few tools. Turn off the water supply to the bathroom faucet. Remove the decorative cap on top of the faucet handle by prying it up at its edge using the tip of the flat-tip screwdriver. This allows access to the retaining screw, which holds the handle to the faucet valve stem. Turn the handle retaining screw counterclockwise with the appropriate tipped screwdriver to remove.
