How do I turn off the check engine light of a 2000 Mazda Miata?
Unless you figure out a way to disable the light, the only way to get it to go away is to have the car hooked up to what is called an OBD II. All mechanics shops have them. It’s a handheld device that reads the computer codes that caused the light to go on in the first place. There are numerous sensors attached to the engine, and if any one of them gives readings that are outside the suggested parameters, the light will come on. If it goes off, then the computer is no longer receiving a bad signal. You most likely will have to have a sensor replaced before it will go away.
