Once turned on, a Pidgin chat window will flash three (3) times when someone initiates a chat with you. From the Buddy List, 1) click Tools on the menu bar and select Preferences from the list. 2) The Preferences window is displayed. Click the Conversations tab. 3) From the Conversations section, check/uncheck Flash window when IMs are received. 4) When you are finished, click the Close button. Alternately, you can have the Pidgin icon in your system tray continuiously flash until you a) click on the new chat window or b) double-click the flashing Pidgin icon in the system tray. To turn on this feature: 1) Right click the Pidgin icon in your system tray (located in the lower right of your screen) and 2) Check Blink on New Message in the list. If you turn on Flash window when IMs are received and Pidgin still does not flash when a new IM is received, you may need upgrade to the most recent version of Pidgin. See Downloading and Installing Pidgin for more information.
