How do i use a sluice box?
Secure the SluicePlace your sluice box in a stream with a swift current. Do not allow your sluice to wobble; secure it by placing large river rocks at the base. Test the current by placing a handful of gravel at the mouth of the sluice. Ideally, the current will carry the gravel through the sluice within 10 seconds.Feed the SluiceFill a 2-gallon bucket with dirt and gravel. Feed the sediment evenly across the mouth of the sluice with a shovel. Allow the gravel to move through the sluice between each scoop. Immediately remove any large stones that are not gold. Continue shoveling until the bucket is empty. Do not allow the sediment to cover the riffles.Collect the GoldOnce the riffles are full, remove the sluice from the stream. Examine the collected materials for any obvious gold nuggets or large flakes. Remove small pieces of gold with tweezers. Dump the remaining sediment into a bucket. Use a gold pan to collect the gold from the bucket.
