How do irises propagate?
Irises propagate in two basic ways: Sexual propagation, or pollination, occurs when the pollen from the male anther is put onto the female part, the stigma, by an insect or human hand. Asexual propagation produces “clones” so each new iris plant has exactly the same genetic makeĀup. Some iris descendants from the 1500s are the same in every way over 500 years later.
