How do ppl get accents?
I think we get our accent as a child and I think you have different accents in all languages. I try to hide my accent as much as I can but I was never successful. People always hear even my slight accent and know instantly where I do come from. I know from a few people here in Germany that they were taking intense speech-lessons over years to get rid off their accent because at TV you can make in Germany only a successful carreer if you speak a clear and proper high-German. But all who had accents confirmed that it was for them just as if they would have to learn the pronounciation of brandnew language. Mostly children overtake their accent from their parents.
