How do singing lessons help?
While actors never have to be really good singers, I think it is great that you want to develop your voice. As far as I am concerned (as an opera singer) acting and singing should go hand in hand. Answering your question, lessons are essential for any singer. We cannot hear ourselves properly when we sing so therefore we have to trust another person to be able to tell us what sounds good and what needs improvement. Our teachers become our ears. Make sure you get yourself a good, reputable teacher though, because your voice is so young and you don’t want to ruin it at this stage while it’s still developing. A good teacher will help you learn the basics of singing which in turn will help your voice strengthen and grow and become as good as you can allow it to be, without hurting your voice in any way. If you can master both arts of singing and acting then I definately think you are on the way to stardom!
