How do TZ Intevia locking devices actuate? What are the differences from typical solenoid locks?
A. TZ Intevia locking devices are electronically actuated mechanical locking devices. The actuation is accomplished by the heating and contraction of Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wire. The SMA actuation provides many benefits over an electromagnetic solenoid, such as: smaller size, lower weight, silent operation, inherent corrosion resistance, ability to open when loaded, and immunity from electro-magnetic interference. TZ has been granted numerous patents around this technology and is the world leader in this type of locking technology.
