How do we know SMART won’t be overly complicated or inconvenient?

A SMART program will be easy to understand and use. Specially marked SMART trash bags will be available at various stores in the surrounding area (Shaw’s, Hannaford’s, Market Basket), including the Baker Free Library, Municipal Building, and the Community Center. After the program begins on Oct. 1, 2009, only trash in SMART bags will be accepted. Again, there will be no change in the way recyclables are treated. They will not be put in SMART bags. Additionally, certain bulky items that would be difficult and costly to put in SMART bags and that are only occasionally disposed of can be taking to the Concord Transfer Station to be disposed of for a fee. Please see our A to Z Recycling guide for tips on how to recycle and dispose of common household items.
