How Do You Add Faux Fur Onto Jeans?
Adorning denim with faux fur requires a bit of specialized sewing technique to make a good-looking end product. For jeans, the best spots for faux fur include the hem and the back pockets; you may also consider sewing on a faux fur patch or two, if the nap is short enough. Work slowly and carefully, as this material may shift while you work. Use the measuring tape to size the parts that you wish to trim with faux fur. Add approximately 5/8″ to the edges as a seam allowance. Craft a paper pattern for your faux-fur pieces. A basic rectangle works fine for the hem if the jeans have a straight cut. For boot and flare cuts, draw the pattern straight at the top and bottom and incorporate a slope corresponding to the cut of the jean. For the pocket pattern, measure the pocket area and cut a rectangle (or other shape) that will fit the area. Cut the faux-fur pieces out according to your pattern.
