• Be a true Musician! Study the piano, or another instrument! Study harmony, counterpoint, orchestration. Make yourself familiar with all classical, vocal, choral and of course, operatic music! How? Take a recording, take a score, and study! You must have as good musicianship as a great instrumentalist or a great conductor. In fact…you must have better musicianship than them! Why? Because during a performance an instrumentalist or a conductor thinks soley about the music – A Singer-Actress/Actor, on the other hand, must be living the life of another human soul on stage (i.e-acting), must think of words, movement , direction and a host of other things, so isn’t it clear that he/she must be such a good musician that, during a performance he/she hardly needs to give any consious thought to the music but lets the subconscious work its magic. You must do everything that you possible can to become a fantastic Musican as this is of enormous importance (and the weakest point of many singers!
